Hola Reader
When people think of learning a dance, they often think of steps. (Confession: so did I.)
But over many years, dance opened doors I never expected—to culture, community, travel, and experiences that enriched my life far beyond the dance studio.
Recently, I returned from Sevilla. This is where we celebrate the Feria de Abril with full glory and world fame.
The city comes alive, and so do we, when we experiencea different way of life.
I have just started a new season of classes here in Singapore, including Sevillanas.
Come with me, and let's experience today a little differently—with some Andalusian culture!
Watch the Video & discover:
A) Three foundations of Sevillanas
• Rhythm • Paso de Sevillanas • Pasadas
You'll get a glimpse of how we learn these elements, whether you're discovering Sevillanas for the first time, or already dancing and looking for a revision.
B) Get this Sevillanas song link
I give the link to "Yo Soy del Sur" by Amigos de Gines, a song that paints a picture of Andalusian life through its lyrics—white houses, blue skies, gardens with geraniums, olive groves, and the pride of belonging to the South of Spain. (Original photos taken by me)
Because understanding what you're dancing to can make the experience so much richer.
C) I take you into the world of Sevillanas, connecting our training in Singapore with the culture that bring the dance to life in Sevilla.
So the next time you dance, you'll have a deeper sense of the people, traditions and celebrations.
For those who come my way, there is much I hope to share—not only dance, but the culture, connections and experiences that make life richer.
Un abrazo,
