2025 Manuel Betanzos Singapore Flamenco Workshops (7 - 11 May)
Published 3 months ago • 3 min read
Hola Reader
I'm back in Singapore after my time in Jerez and Sevilla :)
It's always great to feel the energy of the Festival de Jerez with Manuel Betanzos. In Sevilla, I continued to refine what I learnt in Jerez, with my musicians.
From Spain, we now bring that energy and charisma to Singapore.
The next project happening is
Manuel Betanzos Singapore Flamenco workshop 2025
Dates: Wed 7 May - Sun 11 May.
Early bird discount till this Sun 13 April 🎁
Workshop Highlights
Get a FULL choreography in ONE intensive week
It’s the ZORONGO - one that he taught in the Festival de Jerez. (Now you can learn it too, in Singapore!)
Did you know the Zorongo can be danced in different rhythms such as the Bulerías por Solea (12-beat) and the Tangos? Come experience this!
We have an original music recorded specially for this Zorongo, by Javier Ibanez and Manu Soto in Jerez, so that you can have flamenco music to practise and perform with.
I'm looking at fielding this dance for an Open Call Flamenco Project in November 2025. Details being worked out.

Get coached, get personal tips, boost your flamenco
My friend, when I think of a maestro who gets involved in our personal growth, and cares deeply about HOW we dance, I think of Manuel Betanzos from Sevilla.
He sees what you have inside and endeavours to bring out that potential.
By doing so, he grows our capacity, beyond comfort zones (yes) and to new milestones (óle!).
It’s always with great honor to have this charismatic maestro from Sevilla, back to Singapore for our annual training.
Get ready for 5 intensive days of focussed flamenco training. Benefit from and experience it the way we do in Spain.
Please be welcome to chat to discuss which workshop will suit you.
Abrazos,
Tania Goh

I'm fielding 2 dances we learnt recently from Paloma Gomez's workshop last November:
Carmen Fantasy with mantón
Guajiras with Fan.
Here's sharing my 5 Stages of Dancer Training:
Stage 1 - Setting the foundation. All of us need this - whether you are a beginner or advanced student! Plus, this prepares you for master workshops, as well as for the time you go to Spain.
Stage 2 - Master workshops. That's where I bring in maestros such as Manuel Betanzos or Paloma Gómez. Not just any artist passing by Singapore. But a maestro who follows your progress. Over time, they get to know you - your strengths, your potential areas for growth, and can give you counsel - beyond just steps and choreography.
Stage 3 - Clean up and internalise. After Paloma's workshop, I organised a dance camp last December, so that dancers can clean up the material. This stage can be as long as you need it to be, including doing your own self-practice or buddy-practice.
Stage 4 - Practise with musicians, practise as a soloist. I know we don't always get the chance to do so. In Spain, my musicians are readily available, but in Singapore, I would need to specially bring some of them in. So this stage is ideal, if you can have it.
Stage 5 - From studio to stage. I field dancers who demonstrate ability, interest and initiative for events. So that working towards these goals further consolidate their skills. Plus, learning in the studio is different from learning in performance scenarios. You gain more experience.
Hola Reader Want to predict if you can succeed? I remembered this TED talk as I was creating a video of flamenco tips for my students. The speaker raises these: What if doing well in life depends on much more than your ability to learn quickly and easily? One characteristic emerged as a significant predictor of success. And it wasn't social intelligence. It wasn't good looks, physical health and it wasn't IQ! THIS human trait - "is passion and perseverance for very long-term goals." I'm...
Hola Reader Want to discover and develop your uniqueness? Then dance flamenco! Here's a video of our latest workshop from Spain in Singapore. In it, I share: The sensual Tangos style. Explore it!
