New classes: Guajiras Flamenco, Dance with Elegance & Flair!

Hola Reader

We're starting February with GUAJIRAS!

It’s such an elegant dance in flamenco, the song and music are so melodious, with cultural influence from Cuba.

I’m teaching my students this dance in Sunday classes and preparing them for an upcoming show.

So I thought I’d share about the Guajiras with you!

In 2 minutes, you'll get quick insights into

  1. Rhythm, Compás (useful if you are new to this)
  2. The feel and aire of the Guajiras to explore and express
  3. What is a 'cante de ida y vuelta' in flamenco?
  4. Two dance videos - Olga Pericet and Paloma Gómez. Appreciate their different styles and find your style.
  5. Get to know a flamenco word: 'Pellizco' (literally, a pinch!) and how that can guide your personal exploration of flamenco.

Happy start to February!

Warmly

Tania

If you've not caught the action at the Esplanade, here's a replay of por fiesta Tangos.

I'll be sharing por fiesta Bulerias next.

It takes courage to do this and the girls are part of dance history, participating in Singapore's first por fiesta-focussed show.

It was intense! The distinctive flamenco style (body, hips, arms, fingers) A tip on getting that 'Spanish look' for your arms. Flamenco coordination and why it is great training for both...

Hola Reader How important is posture, poise and self-presentation for your daily and work life? Here's sharing a video from my Classical Spanish dance lessons. You can try out the short & sweet dance sequence. And beyond just movement, remember that dance is also about inspiration, feeling and expressing your human self :) Plus: Catch a glimpse of our recent performance by the girls making their dance aspirations materialise. Warmly, Tania PS. New AUGUST term starts tomorrow! You're still in...

Hola Reader Want to predict if you can succeed? I remembered this TED talk as I was creating a video of flamenco tips for my students. The speaker raises these: What if doing well in life depends on much more than your ability to learn quickly and easily? One characteristic emerged as a significant predictor of success. And it wasn't social intelligence. It wasn't good looks, physical health and it wasn't IQ! THIS human trait - "is passion and perseverance for very long-term goals." I'm...
