Hola Reader

A major Flamenco event is happening this January 2025 and you can be part of it.

  • SHOWS - This is a series of Flamenco shows presented by Esplanade Theatre. Esplanade has invited me to curate the programmes, part of da:ns focus 2025 – Salero Flamenco.
  • I would like to open this platform to the Singapore flamenco community. Dancers of all levels of experience (from new beginners to experienced dancers) can participate.

Community Dancers can join the 'Por Fiesta' performances on Sun 12 Jan (and the Sevillanas)

OMG! How to dance 'Por Fiesta'??

The key is understanding the song!

I am organising 3 masterclasses for students (and experienced dancers who are beginners at Por Fiesta style of flamenco dancing) to learn from Mercedes Cortes (singer) and Jordi Flores (guitarist), top class musicians from Sevilla.

Mercedes & Jordi's participation in this workshop is in collaboration with the Esplanade - Theatres on the Bay.

Pre-show & pre-masterclass preparation.

What is 'Por Fiesta' style of flamenco?

It might become your Flamenco Addiction!

'Fiesta' means party in Spanish. So you can imagine it's fun and spontaneous. Each dancer takes turns to come out and dance their little 'pataita' (short & sweet moves).

It's not about choreography, it's about using your flamenco moves (some of you already have plenty) to go with the flow of the short song.

Many dancers don't yet know of, nor have they experienced this way of flamenco dancing.

So at the start of 2025, why not get new experiences?

😁😆😍💃

Before we dive into the masterclasses, I'm conducting an Introduction to Por Fiesta dances for fiesta newbies.

Venue: Dance on Us / 2pm - 4pm ($60)

And it wasn't social intelligence. It wasn't good looks, physical health and it wasn't IQ! THIS human trait - "is passion and perseverance for very long-term goals." I'm...
